I feel it is better to have a professional do the cleaning. You then have an expert to go back to if you encounter any problems.
We clean our vents every six months. You can buy a vent brush system at Lowe's or Home Depot for 6 or 8 inch vents. It uses a screw on rod system to lengthen the brush to clean each vent. Be sure to vacuum the dryers out at least once a year as well. This will help to prevent dryer fires.
What is the best way to clean out duct vents without taking the parts off? Is it better to have a professional do it?
