I talked to a woman in California just yesterday. She owned a residential condo that was located above 5 retail spaces and a laundromat was slated to be built in one of those spaces. Her main concern was that the laundromat was a fire risk and if it caught fire, it could take her condo with it. She was therefore concerned about the construction of the laundromat.
We talked at length and I assured her that a laundromat was no more of a fire risk than most businesses. Sometimes, the uninformed will raise concerns that have little merit and it's up to us to advise and educate.
