I am also looking into an American changer, and would like to hear what the operators of American changers think of their product, especially people that have used that product for a while.
FYI. Don't learn the hard way (like I did) check your insurance policies for theft coverage. If you don't have this, seriously consider adding it. Also seriosly consider adding cellular backup to your alarm systems.

I own a an AC-2001 changer. Front load w/pedestal wired to a security system. Of my two changers the American gets used 3 times as much as my Rowe. Never a problem with the American since I purchased 3 years ago. The coin-co validator was easily updated for the new bills by a local coin-co service center. The american changer is also at the front of the store and the Rowe is at the back of the store. Might explain why I have less usage on the Rowe. Overall I highly reccomend the American changer.

Hi all, I have two AC-2001 changers from American and love them. They don't have the extensive diagnostics that the Rowe changers do. But then, I've never really needed them. They just don't break very often. The only problem I've had over a 5 year period is having to clean the two metal coin contacts in the bottom of the hoppers. I forget to do this as part of my PM procedures. But it takes a year of so for these contacts to get dirty to the point where the machine fails. My customers like them too.
