Alot of people view but there is little activity. This is a great place to post and it is FREE.

This place is getting better everyday - and will continue to as the other board attacks their members when the management does not like what they have to say - and now they are charging to participate. Not to mention if you say something bad about a sponsor they freak out. It is good that the CLA has opened this board to anyone in the world for free and lets people exchange ideas without charging them for it.

If they want to make money it should be from sponsors. I think alot of people will be switching to this board.

I am just curious - - - - no, actually I NEED to know. Does it matter to the ones who use the forums, here or elsewhere, who the sponsors are? We have been approached by several different sites to be a sponsor. But I am under the impression that those who get a free ride really don't give a hoot one way or the other who pays for the site as long as it isn't them.

Now maybe I have been just reading the vocal ones who don't want to pay or maybe I picked up the wrong impression. But it comes down to WHY should a company like ours do a sponsorship if does not matter who pays the bills?

I am not ragging on any one, I want to know if the users of forum have any loyalty at all to the sponors or do they still want their products/services from the cheapest supplier and to heck with what the supplier does for the industry?

We do our print ads in the trade mag, we belong to CLA, and we have sponsored events at CLEAN shows (never had anyone say "thanks" and so far as my conversations with other sponsors go, neither have they). And we wonder how effective those dollars are. You have to consider that every quarter we make comes from EACH of you!! If you don't spend with us, we have no quarters to spend on sponsorships. So we have to put those quarters spent with us to effective use, we can't just throw them out there for the fun of it.

So, my sincere question for each of you is, if a service, like a forum, costs something to be avialable, then who should pay and why? How do they (in this case - US) benefit"

Generally most (not all) laundromat owners are what we in the customer satisfaction measurement world call deal loyal. In English, they shop for the lowest price - who cares if you are a sponsor. Further, banner adds are a total waste. Anyone (which can be read just about everyone) these days has internet security and add blocking software. Norton Antispam routinely blocks out the banner ads on coinwash, for years I never saw one of those ads. Unless you tell the program to show that junk your intended audience will never see your ads.

The other thing I would look for before placing an ad on any site is certifiable eyeball that will see it. Most of these sites while not charging a lot for an ad don't provide many unique eyeballs to view your ad. While coinwash claims lots of users, if you spend any time there you will quickly see it is about 15 people that are the bulk of the audience - not much bang for your advertising buck.

Probably better served by being a good contributer here, and people will gain respect for you and remember you when they need something.

Sponsorship is just advertising. I think money is better spent advertising in the journal than a bulletin board. As Howard stated its the same 15 or so people , that is a small audience to spend valuable advertising dollars on.

Wascomat had a discussion board a few years ago,I think it was first laundry board but Wascomat can not stand anyone talk about other companies so it was closed.
Free speech, free exchange info are the keys for any discussion board to work. You will find a lot discussion board in Google,Google save the info, good or bad but not delete.
As far as I know most laundry owners still look for stuff in trade mag,not many are looking for on line.
Monarch is a great company,I bought coin boxes, coin mech and other stuff from them before, they are nice prople to talk to in trade show,I found them in trade mag.

This is a fun post.

To Monarch's question, whether it's worthwhile or not to sponsor any forum, I think it's a matter of whether you believe in advertising or not.

When looking to cost-effectively reach the curmudgeons lovingly referred to as laundromat owners, Monarch has only a handful of options; CLA's Journal, Coin-Op Magazine, Clean Show, Coinwash.com and this forum. There may be a few others, but you get my point. If your ad budget is unlimited, you pack a big presence into every one of these. If it's limited, you have to downsize your presence in all, or eliminate your presence from one or some. What you do is a function of your belief in the medium.

As a potential advertiser though, I'd also be wary of changes to the forum which might limit my reach and frequency, thereby decreasing the value I get for my advertising dollar.

Why deleted some of post?
Because they talked about other discussion board?
I visited this board because other board deleted some post.
Censorship was the reason Wascomat's message board closed a few years ago.

They may have been personal attacks and thus deleted. This forum only censors on occasion, when needed.

We should all thank the other laundry BB for changing the way they run their board . This site has taken off, activity is up and there is no interference from moderators. This site is now the best place to exchange info and ideas about the coinlaundry industry. It is nice owners can help each other and newbies. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I agree with Jim on the idea of advertise where you want. I have bought Monarch products, but not becuase of ads, though it probably swayed me to some degree. Monarch had the product I needed. Come to think of it, I learned of it by an ad. So banner ad, print ad, whatever, it may work in the end. If you wanted to test for results you could advertise certain items at at fantastic deal on different mediums.

Mr Deputy,

By changing the content of this post you have been very unclear with my message and with whom I challenged the lost credibility factor, I will assume that has been your intention. Im disappointed with that portion of yuir cencorship and you have done a disservice to your posters as well as me a new poster to your board.

Cencorship will casuse people don't want to visit or post in any message board,Wascomat board closed, don't see many people post in coinwash.com latey and is the board going down this road?We are not childen,we are business owners know how to think ourselve,we know what to believe, what not to.

I have only edited two posts and that was to remove name calling of others. Moving forward, I will not edit any posts only delete those that are not on the original topic, degenerate into personal attacks, contain childish name calling, etc. Most people who read this board really want to learn about our industry. I will continue to delete posts that do not express useful information in a congenial manner. I simply follow the rules that everyone has agreed to when they received consent to post on this board.
