We have tried several paint products including hi temp paint, but have not had success in getting a finish to stay longer than 4-6 weeks. Would appreciate any suggestions.

I have removed cooked on plastics from stainless dryer drums with a steel brush mounted on a drill.
What kind of finish was on them before you started? If it was galvanized it requires what is known as etching(to make a grain for the paint to stick to)and may be required with other finishes also. Talk to the guys at a local body shop and you may be able to get some advice or get them to bake on the finish for you(like the cars have).
