Has anyone thought of or tried pricing top loaders more than double loaders? Since tops use more water, and customers tend to gravitate to the less expensive machines, why promote the tops with less price? What do you think about pricing by H2O usage rather than by capacity?

Sounds like a great idea, FROM AN OWNER's point of view. Why on earth would a customer pay more for a small machine than a large one? The customer does not care what water costs you. I have a much better solution - get rid of the top loaders.

I don't think you can price toploaders higher than fronts, which are double load and up for the most part. You can price your toploaders higher, making your frontloaders seem like a better deal. I know many people do not know how to use a front loader, and will only use toploader, or they have a small load. Don't get rid of toploaders, I know one person who did that and it killed her store. Toploads have a place, love them or hate them.
I have a store that has as many tops as fronts, and I show people bringing in lots of laundry how to use a frontloader and why it is better, ie, cheaper, better wash, faster spin, quicker dry. It is educating the consumer that works best.

My top load washers are the same price as my double front loads. I have not gotten any complaints. The object is to make a profit so we can pay the big taxes.
