Can drop off dry cleaning be profitable for a mat? We do 1000-1200 pounds of was dry and fold laundry each week. Does that amount suggest there may be a market for it?
I am thinking of ways to combat newcoming competition. The new competition will be a dry cleaners and laundromat combination.
I know several drycleaners in my area, but what are the right questions for me to ask?

I am partnering with a local dry-cleaner when I open my store. We are going to trade services; they will be a drop station for WDF for me, and vice-versa.
If successful, I will partner with another D.C. in another nearby town.

I have drop off dry cleaning in my mat, I use a local dry cleaning, we split everything 50-50, my prices are a litlle higher than other dry cleaners, but only by about a quarter or maybe .50cents, but im recieving almost $1000 a month from it.

We have partnered with a dry clearner since just after opening. Most of my WD&F customers don't appear to use the drop off dry cleaning service so I don't think you can count on your 1200 lbs a week as a guide. I offer the dry cleaning more as a convienence to my customers. We have begun watching it more closely as of late since the dry cleaner we use has sold his business. So far so good....we do a 60-40 split because the dry cleaner picks up, does the work, packages and drops back off at my mat. When looking for a dry cleaner ask around to see who does a good job, if you don't know anyone who uses a potential partner bring a few things of your own in and see if you're happy.
Good luck

I am a dry cleaner that also has a coin laundry at my plant. Many of my good customers bring drycleaning to our counter at the time they are doing their laundry. I recommend it as a cross sell opportunity if you are employing an attendant.
The split depends on who does the delivery and who 'tags' the clothes. As was mentioned on this thread, the split is between 40-60% depending on the details.
