I am a new store and would like to know what kind of promotions new or existing stores are doing.

The promotion I offer is higher prices than other stores in the area, a cleaner store, a better dryer to washer ratio, new machines, and machines that are almost never out of order, plus helpful attendants. That is the best promotion to offer.

Howard is usually right, so always listen to his advice first, then weed out any others. However, there are some promotions that can be done. This spring we ran an awesome promotion on comforters, a WD&F special, 2for1 it was a great promotion. We do a dirty dozen club, wash 12 times get 13th wash free.......most of all we provide excellent customer service, bright clean store and management is always on top of things. Great luck!

Hi Jeff

Listen to Grandpa Howard. Will you still talk to me Howard? after calling you Grandpa?.

The Secretary is right. What he says is spot and he researches what he says. Also he talks common sense not b------t.

Howard is, of course, correct. However, I did feel the need to offer a draw when I opened my new store, something I could advertise. I purchased 30" x 40" heavy duty nylon laundry bags from Object Design in New York (They advertise in the Journal). They designed a nice logo. I have given away about 1400 of these now over the past 6 months, and sell them as well. They cost me $2.50 each. These are heavier nylon than most of the bags I have seen, and my customers love them. Its great to seem them come back and the promotion has definitely drawn people into the store. At first I gave them to everybody. Now I require a coupon from an ad, although I still give them away when it seems like a good idea (I give a second or even a third to those customers with huge piles of laundry) Otherwise, I now charge $5 each and have sold about 30 this month.

I really dislike giving away services or anything you would normally charge for. However, I am trying a 25% discount for drycleaning and wash and fold in coupon ads. This has brought in quite a few new customers for these services, but I won't use this in an ongoing basis.
