I have two WDF customers that we have had problems with stains
with. Sometimes when we wash white Polo type shirts they
develop a bright DayGlo yellow stain around the inside of the
collars. We can not figure out what is causing this. There is
no stain when we put the clothing in the washer, but when they
come out they are there. We are using TidewithBleach, and I
can only think it is somesort of chemical reaction - but to
what?

Howard.
Do these stains only appear in the summer. If so it may be the sunblock/suntan lotiona that they are using. I am afraid that I have had these same stains and I have been unable to remove them.

I was able to remove them. All I did was use some liquid automatic dishwasher detergent and rubbed it into the collar - sort of like a stain pretreater. I think it is the phosphates in the dishwasher detergent that do the trick. Give it a try and let me know how you make out.

For someone who does a lot of lateral thinking and tries to look outside the box for answers I failed miserably here. I have used dishwashing (not dishwasher) detergent on many occassions to remove all sorts of stains. Dishwashing detergent is a very important piece of my satin removal armoury.
I hope I get some of these stains so I can try some liquid dishwasher fluid. Thank you for the tip

I can't answer your question on the stains, but would like to add that someone recently washed a tan and blue pair of jeans in our machines. When they were drying them, we saw yellow spots on the seat of both jeans. I assured her that we constantly used both of these machines, and they were not from here. A few days later she said she was putting things away and checked those clothes again, and the spots were gone. I saw them myself, and there really was some rather large yellow spots. So what is the deal? Disappearing stains?
