View Full Version : Laundrette Etiquette
Many years ago I saw in a Laundrette a Sign headed laundrette etiquette. With rules such as " If drying only, give way to Wash/Dry Customers" etc.I was wondering if anyone has suggestions or a complete list.

Not trying to be a smart *ss, but how many customers do you know of that read the signs in your store? I know that the majority of my customers never read signs or instructions.

I have the same problem.
I was thinking of adding a sign on a few dryers which reads, "Reserved for Wash Customers Only"
But since I'm unattended, I'd have to watch the tapes and see if they comply.

My insurance company tells me I should watch my customers and everytime I see something stupid, post a sign. My store would be full of signs like: Dont put kids in the carts, No running, no scooters, do not put body parts in moving equipment. My store with be nothing but signs, not to mention 3 different languages. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Customers never read signs until there is a problem. I have signs that say unattended clothes will be removed from dryers. When they bit*h who took my clothes out, I point to the sign.

I have told my clerks to remove cloths left in dryer and put the cart behind the counter. When the offender returns and gets upset about the missing clothes, we explain that WE emptied the dryer after it stopped and put the clothes behind the counter for safety. That way, waiting customers are not tempted to just take the clothes out and dump them on a table or the floor. We are always thanked for our thoughtfulness after this explanation.
It is SO difficult to motivate folks to do the right thing unless the laundry is attended. Sort of like a bunch of kids in school sneaking out to cruise the halls without any hall monitors! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
