My wife and I went on a long awaited break. No checking with the mat, now worries about the backlogged projects, etc.

We drove out to a small town a ways away, enjoying the scenery. My wife had never been by that way, she is new in the area.

About half way there, we stopped at a rest stop, and noticed they had a general store/gas station/cafe/laundry mat. It was your typical "middle of nowhere" type place, all in one. So out of curiosity, we checked out the mat. They had 6 top loads, and two dryer stacks. We figured they were "under dryered" for the washer count.

Half joking, we mentioned we had a spare top load and another dryer stack, gave a rough price for both, and the lady that owns the place said "Sold" and arranged to pickup the units in about a week.

We had thought we'd never get rid of them. Then just an aside mention we sold them.

I guess that just shows when you own your own business, you are never really "off".

Don't forget to bill your mat for the business trip.

Saturday was my wife's birthday. I took her to Branson, Missouri. We went to a laundry trade show put on by my distributor. Do I know how to treat a lady, or what? Actually, in addition to the trade show, we went to a really nice restaurant for dinner and then to one of the shows that Branson is famous for. I also got her a gift. Can I write off the gift?

Was the gift a washing machine or a dryer? They make GREAT gifts!

Nah. I got her a necklace and earrings. Now, on paper she is the co-owner of the laundromat. So wouldn't the purchase be considered a public relations expense...something necessary for harmony between business partners? But then I guess the IRS would probably consider it a private relations expense and disallow it. They just don't understand. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
