We usually ask the other employees if they know of anyone responsible. Placing an ad in the paper is setting your self up, we usually place a notice on the doors. Most of the employees have been customers. We weed out alot of potential problems by stating we do back ground checks.....
High school drop out or college student wouldn't be bad for an attendants job except you are probalby wanting depedability? and someone that will not train and ditch you? You never can tell. Try to talk to your current employees and your customers, they are usually responsive to help out.

You're right, you can never tell, but I've had much better luck with hiring, shall we say "mature" people, rather than young applicants.

Acutally i have two part time high school girls that take care of my laundry. One is monday - friday 4:30 to 7:00 and my other girl works sat and sun 9am to 7pm. best little employees i've ever had and all of my customers love them.

hobbes4star I was wondering how you run your WDF given the hours you mention. I am just getting started so I am open to all ideas :0 besides the wdf girls do you have it attended or unattended? how do you handle drop off and pick ups? what times? would you share what you pay your girls?
thanks for the info,
Ed

My store is semi-attended. My one girl works in the afternoons and she will do the wdf when she gets there. basically she comes in starts the wash if their is any, then cleans the place up. pretty much the same with my other girl. my mat is open from 8am to usually around 9, (as long as people are doing there laundry then i keep the place open) My wife or I go in every night around 7 and do the money, any repairs that came up, stocking etc. but in the mornings i have a barber shop that is actually in the laundry and my two barbers come in and open it up and keep an eye on the place. they also help the customers and take in the wdf.
