I'm thinking of getting a Bill to Bill machine. Would you go with American or Standard?

To me a bill to bill changer is a waste of money. If you have a changer that accepts $1, $5, $10, and $20 you should not need a bill to bill. I assume you have attendants that can make change for those who need it. I would put my money in a second changer. Having a backup changer is a very good thing.

I was going to put it in a unattended mat. Maybe I should just use the money to go on vacation instead.

I put one in my attended mat, to avoid having to leave out so much change. We average about $300 per day in changed bills.
I use the standard machine. It works OK, but is susceptable to jamming. We give out $5 bills only. I had lots of problems initially, until I swapped out the storage tray. The one that it came with only had one spring, whereas the new one had two. The pressure was uneven, I think, creating feed problems.

We bought the Standard Change model last June. Upgraded to the cashcode validator as the model that the standard came with has some stringing issues. This machine has done fairly well with the exception of the first month or so. It has been working very well, has been using around 3600 in bill changing per week. Even though it had a 2900 price tag it has been nice not having the attendants all having change and having to replenish that change on their own during the shift.

Brave Dave -
What sort of problems did you have, and what was the fix? Mine still tends to jam at least once a week.

We were told to take rubbing alcohol and clean the rollers. This stopped the issue of jamming when dispensing. So many bills going through this machine, gunks up the rollers. We have not had the machine jam in the acceptor as of yet. It will place itself out of order when their is 50 5's still left in the machine.....We called Standard and he walked me through troubleshooting.

The standard machine has a magnet to tell the system when it is nearly out of bills. As you said, this leaves about 50 bills, which is too many. Im thinking about redrilling and moving that magnet. I'll try cleaning the rollers like you said as well.

Charlie,
Id like the instructions on how to move the magnet 250 bucks during the week could last
over night and extend the trip time to that store. I had to go last Wednesday just because of this issue.
Unfortunaly the wait time between postings here is a little excessive at times, so if you would be so kind ast
to send me the instructions via the pm system on Coinwash Id greatly appreciate it! Thanks, Kitty
