I am new to the business and need to replace my water heater. I have been told Ace, Raypak, or Hamilton are good brands. Any good or bad comments relating to these companies (or any other companies) would be appreciated.

I just installed a new Raypak and am glad that the plumber guaranteed the installation. The Raypak expert recommended the wrong holding tanks and amount of fresh air. The plumber company replaced both without charge.

I run 5 Hamilton systems in my stores and have little trouble. They have great customer
service through the distributors.

Have you looked a the Paloma on-demand heaters that mount on the wall? They eliminate the need for a storage tank and are very economical to run on natural gas. If you do look into them, you need to be aware of your water quality (hardness) because that is the only situation where we've run into problems with them. Other than that, they are bid space and energy savers.

I have hamilton single tank at 2 locations, and my newest I have Paloma's (2) The Paloma has steaming hot water all the time, customers like that, and my gas bill seems good. It is a new store, so hard to judge, but am running a 30% gas bill to dryer revenue ratio, which is the lowest of all stores. The only downside is if everyone starts machines at about the same time on HOT wash, the flow is slow. I should have put 3 in a row, I am thinking about it. They have a 3/4" inlet/outlet so you have to bank them to get good flow. When my other heaters die I will replace with these tankless. If you have a huge laundrymat I am not sure they will work. Get the info from a supplier. I have the number somewhere if you need it.

We operate 14 stores and have 5 Hamilton systems. We have been very please and have received good feed back from our customers. They do an excellent job of matching the system size to the hot water demand of a store.
