Any comment on the Dexter V-Series Washer? Compare with the old T-x00s, which one you guys prefer to buy?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have been investigating the V-series for potential future purchase. What is the story with the small soap dispenser box? On top of that, it is set back so that the average woman (5'5" or less)can not reach it without a ladder. Did Dexter's engineering dept give this any thought? In general, would you buy a Dexter over one of its competitors?

I was at a Dexter show a few years ago, and I told the Dexter company rep the same thing about the poor design of the soap box. He pretty much told me that that is the way they were - take it or leave it. Well, I'm the one who is going to have to live with, and pay for all the extra cleaning that will be necessary because of a poorly designed and located soap box. I chose Speed Queen over the Dexter, because I liked their soap dispenser and door lock much better. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

L mike..
How could you like a soap box that has to be held up by hand vs.dexter that you lift up and it stays up, much like a good toilet seat /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif The door lock, you got to be joking.. I have more calls on my 2 SQ washers door locks than any other machine in my empire. And I only have 3 SQ washers..
The door mech sucks, the pin gets worn a little you have to replace it or take calls about your washer running continuously for days... god, give me a Yugo instead.

That's part of the beauty of the soap lid, it's simple and self closing (just like Wascomat), and the customer provides the mechanical action. I'm sure that if you asked your wife or your female significant other, that she would prefer a toilet with a larger hole, and a seat that would be self closing.(normally closed) As far as the door lock, maybe I'm living on borrowed time, but I have 10 four year old Speed Queen frontloads, and have not had a single problem with a door lock yet. Wasco, Speed Queen, and ADC. If you have Dexters, you've already bought the Yugo. Sorry.

Mike,
I have 20 Dexter washers and have had no door lock problems. Some of mine are three to four years old. I know of nine other owners near me, who have Dexter washers 5 - 10 years old and still no door lock problems. As far as the soap lids go, I like the Dexter ones a lot. I get far less spillage with the so called smaller holes, since the customer does not have to hold the lid open at the same time. I think the Dexter lid and machine top are much easier to clean around. Sorry but Dexter is by far not the Yugo here.
