These have been around for years in europe and unless they have changed something they only dry half of what they wash and they don't spin very fast so it takes a while to dry. But things might have changed...!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Good point. I was reading the specs and it says the drying cycle can only handle a max load of 11 lbs and the wash is 22 lbs max. So it looks like things haven't changed from the Europeons. lol. Looks like they have to do more R&D on the dryer portion.

They call it the ventless condensing drying system, so it has no dryer exhaust vent. First, dry heated air flows through the clothes which becomes heated moisture air. That moisturized air then travels thru cold water and causes it to condensate. The condensate water then drains out and the moisture air becomes dry air again and the heat is recycled over and over. Pretty ingenious. But who knows stuff like this comes and goes if it doesn't catch on or if it doesn't work well.

Several US mfg's had combo washer-dryers in the 1950s and on into the 1960s: Bendix Duomatic comes to mind. I have an old Maytag repair manual for a condensing dryer not a combo): they connected to the cold water supply and passed the hot exhaust through a cold water mist which condensed the moisture out, with the help of a specially-designed blower wheel and it then went to a drain; the air was recirculated through the heating element and so on it went. Pretty ingenious. Did not need an exhaust vent.
