How productive are mats right across the street from a college or university?
What do you do to do to lure students from walking down the hall to the campus laundry facility and across the street over to your mat?
Local university here charges 75 cents in a 1 load washer and 50 cents in a 1 load dryer
Can that price be beat using new equipment?

Get a liquor permit to sell beer, and you'll have them waiting in line. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
One of my mat's is across from a private university that has about 8,000 students. I get about 35% of my customers from the university, and 65% from the local population. Summer is fine, and steady, but the bulk of my revenue is earned in the fall and spring months. Do not try to match the university at pricing your washers and dryers - you will lose big time - instead, focus your equipment choices on equipment that can get the job done as quickly as possible - that is what the students here look for. This store is also an Easy Card store, and they love it - I get very good feedback from all of my customers about this. Additionally, we offer free high speed wireless internet access, a lounge atmosphere, and soon we're adding a tanning bed - all things the students have asked for, and ancilary items that keep them coming back.
