Hi,
I am the Set Decorator for a NY city based TV show. We are adding a laundromat to our existing set. We strive to make things as realistic as possible so we bought the contents of a local Laundromat that was closing and are in the process now of building the machines into our set-up.
We have Wascomat 75's, Maytag LA23CD's and Huebsch Loadstar II dryers along with assorted change, detergent and other vending machines.
We are looking for someone in our NYC area who does on site refurbishment. Mostly cosmetic as these are not going to be fully run.
(for example: tumbling the clothes in the dryers with no heat hooked up so you see the tumbling action.)
We are looking for a service or person who comes on site and cleans lint, soap filler areas, repaints panels, removes light surface rust and maybe even knows how to disable the features we don't need.
I know this sounds strange, but this is really my job and I am absolutely serious.
We are not some huge network affair with an unlimited budget to throw around but we are willing to pay fairly for someone with this skill.
Do laundromats have someone who provides this sort of service for them?
If so, any thoughts on where I could start looking?
Keith
