was $1400 last bill - was $3400 this bill - got to keep the prices at a premium across the board
with oil/gas prices creeping up all the time - I notice everytime I buy supplies it's more than the previous month also - the days of 25 cent spins are long over (my small dryes are 40 cents now per spin - want to bump to 45 cents - should have done it last qtr when I raised all the other prices : 0 )

Ouch,
Just like those Katrina days, raise those prices. lol.
that is horrible, way to dam high of a increse. Here in cali we are still stuck at .25 for 12min
Yup, like the Katrina days. Back then I raised my price to 6 mins per $0.25 and have kept it there since.
No rising gas prices for me this winter, I signed a fixed rate contract with my gas company in the fall which keeps my price at the October level through March.

Did you make a lot more money, or did your gas price go up? Are you in the Northeast?

What was the change in price per therm? I cannot believe that the price more than doubled for equivalent usage.

With Gas prices the way they are, we ALL should be charging .25 cents for 5 min.

BMW,
Funny you should mention that ... I just raised my 35 lb dryers to 5 min/qtr yesterday. My 30 lb dryers are 6 min/qtr.

Larry, I'm considering the same move. I gotta find the 12 pin cams for my 35's. (electromechanical<------yuck) Do you have the electronic coin drop's, Larry?

Chad,
Why are you stuck at 12 minutes on your dryers? Is there a law? Does the mob have a take on the dryer revenue? Is it a religious thing?
Is it because you will lose customers? Don't worry about it, raise your prices. You may lose some customers, but in the end you will still make more money and in time your competition will follow.
Duane.

BCW,
Mine are drop coin meters. I've not had knob meters for 20 years. You should be able to find 12 pin cams somewhere, I would think.

looks like the gas company screwed us - they do an "Actual Reading" one month than an "Estimated reading" the next - Nov. way low - now they put the screws to us with the higher therms price - joke
therms .1715 x quantity 2239.76
but there's 3 main headings of charges on every bill with like 3 to 5 line items of trumped up charges: (rough charges below)
*Total Delivery Charges $500
*Total Gas Charges $2500
*Total Other Charges (gross earnings tax + State Tax) $400
We do plan on rasing all are prices, but here in cali most of the mats you go to are 10-12min per $.25.
As far as my washers go i priced myself way over anyone else.
top loaders 1.25
30lbs $2.70
60lbs $5.20
80lbs $6.75
My compition is about .25-.75 lower

Seems high, I just got a gas bill this morning and the actual cost per therm for the gas was $1.005 including tax.

chad,
I have one hard and fast rule:
I don't follow the lead of idiots.
Unless your natural gas costs you less than 50 cents per ccf (total cost including delivery, taxes, BS fees, the governor's reelection fund, etc.), you need to adjust your dryer times downward. My last gas bill was just under $1.02 per ccf and my 30 lb dryers are 6 min/quarter now.
Impress your competitors by leading the way wisely.

wow - you guys must have your buildings paid for as well as your machines for those low, rock bottom prices - I am in the Northeast but I'm looking to make money in this business.
Our prices range from tops (which I wish I never bought) priced at 2.95 to 60s at $7.35 (drys 40 cents - soon to be 45 cents)
Larry, Just got this month's gas bill. I'm impressed! I signed on in the fall at a guaranteed rate, and my bill is actually half of what it was last Jan. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We cali owners need a chain reaction for $2.00 tops and 6 or 8 mins dry times. I'd be banking at those rates, but I don't want to be the first to do it. My customers might not come back or will b***h about it.

A new mat that opened up 2 months ago had all there prices half off for 1 month grand opening. Now that the month has passed he lowered the prices again trying to get more business he has a 75 LB Continental power washer I believe it's for 8 loads, At $5.75 Because he started a promotion for half off his customers are always going to expect low prices and give him hell when he raises them.

Here is a link to a Washington Post article. A few years back in Maryland a gas station deeply discounted their gas as an advertising ploy. It caused a huge price war. The State government stepped in and made it so you could not sell gas for less than what you buy it for,
How would this situation apply to some of the prices wars that go on between local mats if the government stepped in.

I am so happy with NG prices I am smoking much better cigars! Go look back, we usually spike now over 1.00 a therm, up to 1.40 and I am talking spot. NG at mid .70 in Jan and crude at $100? I am worried the power plants are going to switch over and drive NG demand thru the roof, then we will really be hurting. We are VERY lucky right now.

Pete,
Nat Gas prices are determined by the weather in the notheast U.S. They have spiked up, along with Heating Oil as of late. They will go down this week because of unseasonably warm weather in the n. e. Look out after that, when it get's cold again.
