I'm contemplating purchasing my first Laundromat. During my research on the internet I came across a web page from Gary Ruff in NY. He's a lawyer and laundrymat consultant. Has anyone done business with him? I'm sure he is most likely legit, but you can't be too careful these days.

Could not tell you anything about him but a good resource for you is people here and at another site called coinwash dot com.

Skip chatwash.com, and join the Coin Laundry Associaton if you want the best, and most accurate information on all aspects of the coin laundry industry.

Call the CLA directly and see if either he is a member or if they have heard of him.
Yes Listen to Mike and hang out here for a while. Just make sure you don't Doze off. His comment about best and accurate information from CLA. In one of their issues of CLA Journal they had reviewed dryers and it was best independent review of dryers I had ever seen./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif It told me exactly which dryers are good or bad /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif and why and it helped me a lot in understanding which dryer I would buy next /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif - HA HA HA HA HA. I would call the lawyer and ask for references. You could also call a distributor and ask their opinion.

What type of services are you expecting this fellow to provide? Are you buying existing or building new? What is your background?
The answers to these questions will determine what help (if any) that you would need from a "consultant". The CLA, web forums, distributors, business and real estate brokers and other owners are your best place to start looking for info and possibly advice.
