All. I operate a consulting practice (self-employed with employees) and I am looking to diversify by entering the coin laundry biz. I am in the Mid-Atlantic. Where would you recommend I start my research? Is the Start Guide put forth by CLA worth it? (it's not the price, it's whether the info is worth it).
Thanks,
- Pete

Become a CLA member. They will send you information to get you started and will contact your local equipment distributors who will then contact you.
Talk to some owners (not close to where you plan to own your store) and get their view on the business.
Start doing your laundry in local laundromats.
You should then have enough knowledge either to go forward or to turn and run when it comes to owning a laundromat.

Ask questions here and check out Coinwash "DOT" Com - another bbs with a lot of action. Also see if there is a local CLA chapter where you are and go to their meetings. Find out who the equipment distributors are in your area and talk to them.

The Clean Show in Las Vegas has a couple of seminars that might interest you.
Projecting New Store Income will be held on Wed. Aug 13th
Evaluating an Investment in the Coin Laundry Business and Purchasing an Existing vs. Building New will be held on Thursday the 14th.
Call Sue at CLA she can give you more info.
My advise to all prospective store owners is to take your time and do your research it will pay off in the long run.
Good Luck
