anyone offer any kind of free wash programs? i ran a news paper add for 6 months with a free wash coupon, only got 3 of them in, then tried a weekly raffle. i gave each customer a raffle ticket and drew the winner every friday, only had 2 of them turned in. now i do what i call the (dirty dozen club). each customer is given a subway type card, each washer they use gets a hole punced and when they get to 13 its free (1 free washer) then they get a new card. customers love it.

We used to offer punch card for dry clean business, same idea.
We are not in our store all the time,we found out employees were giving their friends a lot more punch ....we stop that right away.
None of my laundromat are full attendanted now,we don't offer any punch card.
One of my friend give $100 every week for the raffle,I don't know how many people turn in the ticket.

My card system awards bonus points with each wash vend. The amount of points depends on the size of the machine vended. If you always start the same size machine, you get every 11th wash free. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'm doing a raffle, and its a huge hit, I've given out around 4,000 tickets this month, and will have my first drawing today. I'm raffleing off an Ipod Nano, and 20 huge nylon laundry bags with my store logo and address on them. Customers get 1 ticket for two top loads, 1 ticket for each triple load, 2 tickets for a 6 load, and 3 tickets for an 8 load. People gladly fill out each ticket with name and phone # and can't wait for the drawing. Costs me about $250 total per month to run, vs. a free wash at $3 per pop, if you even have a 100 customers a month get there free wash, thats $300 a month. Every area is different I guess.

I tried that free wash stuff once, and it turned out to be a waste of money. Most people really didn't appreciate it, attendants would punch extra holes for customers they liked, ect. I think that you are better off to end the free washes, take all the money that you would have given away in free washes, and add it to your own salary.

Mike,

Wash cards, Punch cards, 13th Wash Free cards, Wash Club cards, etc. are all subject to employee/customer fraud. Employees can and will give more punches than your plan calls for. When using these cards, one must put in place controls to try to limit employee/customer fraud to a marginal amount.

These punch cards do build customer loyalty but with today's high tech equipment you can accomplish the same thing with Special Event Pricing. You then eliminate any possibility of fraud while giving your reduced price during slow times. This is a far better option.

Raffles in many towns are illegal unless you pay a fee and get a permit for each on - be careful.

I have a frequent washer club that customers absolutely love. The card system runs the program automatically. After "X" washes they automatically get a free wash. This is one of the best loyalty programs you can have. It keeps people from using multiple cards or throwing away cards when the balance is low. It keeps them coming back to the store. It costs very little to run, and is a much better route that giving say a 10% bonus when people deposit $20. The latter is just a 10% discount on your pricing and builds no loyalty. With this program only loyal customers are rewarded.

Free wash is easy to do if you have a card store.Coin store is a little harder, employee always like to be"the nice person" .
Most raffles in my area have to be free, anyone should able to get a ticket,do laundry or not and can not give them more tickets for more wash.
I know some car dealers gave raffles ticket,if you test drive the car,if you decide not to test drive, still want to ticket, they will still offer you but you have to go to their website and mail in the ticket, they make "none customer" hard to get into the raffles but still have to offer.
