So. Cali. owners check out these prices that you'll be paying this month in March. I monitor the nat gas prices religiously. I think everyone else should too.

According my estimations every $.10/therm that goes up translates to about $300 or more on my gas bill.

Steven,
What are your dryers set at?
Mine are 12 min for .25 cents with 1 min cool down.

My dryers are 12 minutes with 3 minutes cool time..Do more cool time and keep the total minutes same so customer wont notice anything and you save some charges on gas /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey Kenny,

Its been set at 10mins w/ 2 min cooldown for like 2 years now. Right now I'm contemplating if I should change to 8mins w/ 2mins cooldown. 10mins is the lowest I've seen in my area. So I would be the first 8mins dryer. I'm thinking about raising my washers also. My tops are 1.50, 18lbs 1.75, 27lbs 2.50, 30lbs 2.75, etc.

Maybe I should wait till next month to see what happens with the natural gas prices. I'm not too worried about it though at the moment.

Rangila, I dont think I want to change my cooldown more than 2mins because the cheap customers who put 1 quarter at a time will complain. And I hate complainers. Believe me they know about the cooldown too.

Why are u guys still at 12mins by the way, I think 10mins dryers are pretty common these days?

Bahhh, if they know about the cool down time then why in the heck would they keep on micro managing the dryers. Isn't the point of one .25 at a time to save money (even though we all know that we make alot more when they do that) Why is it that customers worry so much about the few quarters they spend on drying, lol.

wow those are low prices for gas I paid 1.24 includes delivery charges. and have my dryers at 5 min for qtr. some guys around here have gone to full cycle dry 1.50 to start dryer gives them 32 min. It has minimizes complaints from .25 at a time . The way I handle those is to go to dryer open door and feel drum if hot I tell them to put in more qtrs. and I usually throw one in to please cheap advertising.

The gas prices listed on the website is what the gas company buys the gas for. The gas company then charges more to their customers which would be us.

For example the month of February, So Cal Gas Co. paid 78.651 cents per therm to buy the gas. I was charged about 98.718 cents per therm not including tax/delivery. Their profit margin is about 20 cents per therm and their profits varies depending on the season where winter is usually the highest. By looking at what the gas company pays for their gas I can predict what my next upcoming gas bill will be.

Rangila4u,
Believe me they'll notice especially when there used to the dryers they dry there cloths in every week.
I would never put my dryers at 3 min cool down, I would here nothing but complaints, That the dryers don't work. I would much rather lower the minutes from 12 min down to 10 or 11 and here them say why you lowered the minutes. which I can easily justify why. Instead of your dryers don't work, leaving the store with a negative impact.

It is been like that for two years and no complaints and revenue didn’t drop either. i really want to make it 10 minutes per quarter but its tough in Socal. Everyone is 15 minutes with 25 cents.

I don't understand how the money is made in drying then? I recently looked very closely at the utility bill and dryer revenue; I'm finding out that I'm at at best 30% revenue from dryers. And I'm currently at 7/1.

April 2008 Update: SoCal Gas will now be buying nat. gas for $.95747/therm link (http://www.socalgas.com/business/prices/pricing_monthly1.shtml) and I estimate will sell (markup) to us for about $1.32/therm (tax & fees included) and will vary some depending on location.

April 2007 was $1.0097/therm (tax/fees included). Thats a 30.7% increase in price/therm compared to last year.

To do a quick/easy estimation for your total April's 2008 Gas bill multiply April'07 total therms used by 1.32. My store's gas bill will be over $2,000 about $500 more than last year's if the therms used stays the same.

Changing my dryers from 10 to 8 mins will be a 25% dryer price increase. I feel its necessary to raise my dryer prices now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I'm a SoCal Gas customer, Los Angeles beach city location. Jan 1, 2008 I adjusted all prices. ADC 330 stack dryers are now 7 minutes (2 cooldown) for $0.25; down from 8 minutes.

Feb 4, 2008 thru March 5, 2008
Commodity Tier 1 250 Therms x 1.27352= 318.38
Commodity Tier 2 516 Therms x 1.05056= 542.09

Last Year
Feb 16, 2007 thru March 20, 2007
Commodity Tier 1 250 Therms x 1.18028= 295.07
Commodity Tier 2 545 Therms x 0.95905= 522.68

Tack on another $100+ in taxes and fees....OUCH! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Get out! I wish I had your gas bills in Fla. and Ca. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Just think about this, if you boys were operating up here in Northern Illinois. Your gas bill would be similar to mine and Galagas. 1,454.49 Therms X 0.89= $1,523.07. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
