Has anyone finished out the floor of their laundry with smooth concrete that is stained, then varnished? I saw this done at a mall that has tremendous foot traffic and it's holding up fine (looks great too). Seems like it might be more economical than tile and easy to maintain. Comments please.

I used to put epoxy paint on the concrete floor of a service gararge I owned years ago. It held up fairly well, but had to repaint every year or so. I would be concerned about the floor being slippery if it was sealed and varnished. Always a spill of water or soap it seems. I don't think you can beat tile in the long run. and you can buy non slip type.
