In the laundromat I am buying I noticed two customers bring in wet clothes and dry them in the dryers. I used to see them take them home wet out of the washer. Is anybody else seeing this type of thing (possibly because of the gas prices?) 4/11 of our dryers are on 8 minutes and 7/11 are on 10 minutes. I don't understand why but we are changing it when we take over in February.

put all the dryers at 7 1/2 so they are all the same. I have people come in, wash, and take the wet clothes home. I have people bring in 4 or 5 baskets of clothes they washed at home all day to dry. It does not make any difference to me. I used to frown on dry only customers, don't make much off dryers anyway, and they took up dryers sometimes from wash customers. But put more dryers in since. Dry only customers will bring in thier big stuff every so often, so I treat them all the same. If it is a real busy day when I am there, and see many dryers full and someone walks in with 4 or 5 loads of to dry, I will make them use 1 or 2 dryers instead of letting them take 3 or 4. Most dry only won't hog your dryers on busy days anyway. The story is the same, dryer is broken. Some people have washers hooked up at home, but never a dryer, probably becuase of the electric requirment (220v oulet needed) they are renters usually, but stuck a washer in the backyard with a hose hooked to it.

My 'mat is situated between a high income part of town and the lowest income part of town. I get many more people in my 'mat who just use the dryers than those who just use the washers. Most dryer-users are from the well-to-do neighborhood and they all have the same story -- their dryer has just broken down. I have more washer-only users in the spring and summer, when they will take their wash home to dry on a line. So far, no one has expressed to me that they are there because of gas prices. When it comes to paying the gas bill or going to a laundromat, most rather stay home and pay the bill!
So far, that is...
