Does anyone know of a good video security system? Laundry spy is a little pricey.... I would like to find a good quality system that i can moniter over the web. If anyone knows of a good DVR (digital Video Recorder) out there? please help... <font color="red"> </font color>

It's hard to find a turn-key system that isn't expensive. If you're skilled enough, you can build your own PC system. Search on Ebay for DVR and you'll find a couple of companies selling PC DVR cards and software.

Another alternative is VPON. That is a stand along video recorder. No PC required. Contact Duane at www.lmaries &lt;dot&gt; com. He has that system running and is a dealer, if memory serves me corrently.

There is a company called ETTI Technologies that builds computer survelliance systems. They do not have a web page that I know of but you can call them at 630-860-1660 and ask for Steve Marcionetti.

ETTI is a sub company of Card Concepts (or vice versa, or something like that), producers of that great CCI card system. I am happy with my VPON system, but if I had known of the ETTI system I probably would have purchased it when I purchased my card system from CCI.

I don't know anything about the ETTI video system, but if it is anything like their card system then it would be a no brainer in my opinion.

In response to your query, I have found that the company Active Vision does a good job meeting the needs of a video security solution. I bought one of there systems for 2695 and I have found it to be superior to Laundry Spy in every way not to mention the price. The system iu bought came with my choice of any 4 camera's(They had a huge selection) all the wires I needed, a really nice flat screen monitor, the system , an optical mouse and keyboard. The system comes with everything the Laundry spy system does except you dont need any software to view the system remotely. it is all browser based so all you need is to use Internet explorer on any computer connected to the Internet anywhere in the world. In addition,
you can go to there website and demo out the system you are going to purchase before you even call them. They have a try before you buy attitude. Something Laundry Spy cannot boast. there website is www.active-vision.com (http://www.active-vision.com) They offer lifetime technical support, the system is extremely simple to use and comes with a one year warranty. I stumbled upon them by accident but it certainly has made a whole lot easier with an Active Vision system. When i got stuck while hooking it up, I called my cable company and they couldnt help me, but when I called up technical support at Active Vision, the guy had me up and working in 5 minutes. I think for my other 4 stores, I am going to buy Active Vision systems. To this date, I have prevented 3 employees from stealing from me.
