my laundrymat is using the smart card system and all was going well until the smart card vendor i purchase the cards from raised the price from $2 to $3 per card. am i limited in buying these special coded cards from this vendor or are there other companies to purchase cards from? HELP!!!

This is a tough lesson to learn, but just like the one you have to learn when you sign a lease. Read the agreement and see what you are on the hook for. If it is truly proprietary then you are as they say in France - screwed. That is one of the many reasons that smart cards are not the way to go. I know one person that will shortly be trashing his smartcard system and replacing it with one that uses cheap magcards.
