Sat a woman in her 40's put detergent & softener in one of my dryers & called me after a few minutes to tell me my washer was Not filling with water, I thought it was a joke till I watched the CCTV, I could not believe what I had seen. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

I have had atleast 3 that I know of come in and think the washers are dryer. Two of them were helped before they started them. One girl took her cloths out of a 18LB Mity Mac, and put them into a Neptune and started it. " Oh I though that was a dryer, I guess they will be real clean"

An old timer told me this happened in one of his store in the 1960's.

I have had people pull there clothes out of the top loader and put it in the front loader to dry and the other way around also. Some people are really new to a laundromat

To All,

In the early 1960's, laundromat dryers looked much different than laundromat washers. Most washers were white colored toploaders with just a few robin's egg colored small frontloaders in the mix. The dryers were often huge brightly colored 50 lb monsters built into a wall. Even new customers quickly understood which were washers and which were dryers.

Today, almost all of my equipment is stainless steel. My single pocket dryers are only a few inches taller than my 80 lb washers. While customers generally know what is what; mistakes do happen on rare occasion. Usually, the customer catches her mistake before putting soap into a dryer though.

Between my two stores which are unattended part of the time, I have had three people put soap and dry clothes in dryers and two put wet clothes from a top-loader into a front load washer to dry.
This is within the past 12 months.

The Neptune looks like a dryer in the first place that is why you will not find any in my laundry..

Wouldn't it have to be called Sahara, or something dry sounding to be a dryer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Regardless of what they call it, nobody bothers to read - labels, instructions, or anything else!
