View Full Version : Just cut water use by 1/3

I finally discovered why I was using so much water. All my tops were set for two rinses. I just set them back to one rinse and will probably going to knock 1/3 off my water bill next month. Anyone think the average customer is going to miss that second rinse?

Once I get half these tops replaced with Neptunes, I imagine my water bill will be half what it was when I took this place over.

You can all laugh at the new guy now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bob,

I never heard of a laundromat toploader being set for 2 rinses. That's a first. No wonder they were so popular. Not only will you save water, sewer and electricity, but your toploaders will have a quicker cycle too. Congratulations.

What brand of toploaders do you have, and how did you reset to just 1 rinse?

Maytag, computer models.

It was in the menu, number 8. 8.11 was 4 minute rinse agitate/one rinse, 8.12 would be 4 minute agitate two rinses. Mine were set to 8.22 eight minute agitate, two rinses.

Make sure you set up your Neptunes properly and understand each programming option.

I might have already discussed this with you, but if not let me know and I can go over some options again.

First make sure you read and understand the programming guide that comes with your washer. Use a pencil and mark each option of how you want to set it up as you read through. It may take you 10 minutes to set the first washer up, but once you get the hang of it the rest should take about 2 minutes each.

Here are some highlights of programming a Neptune:

708 - Set the main wash to 8 minutes
800 - Additional rinse set to off
F.00 - Enhanced pricing option (study this if you are going to charge different prices for hot or warm) Needs to be set to SU if you want Supercycle.
o.00 - Suds Detect option set to off
P. E - Max extract option set to on
r.800 - Top spin speed RPM (600-999)
A1.00 - Prewash length. If you have hard water or customers who use too much soap set to A1.01 to add a one minute prewash to eliminate most of the customers soap.
A2.04 - Final spin length. Use this option and r.800 option to adjust length and speed of final spin. Faster and longer will help with dryer times, but can reduce bearing life. 800 and 3 minutes works good for me.

Test cycles:

Open up service door to get any error codes (Dxx). If no errors it should show 60x (x=number of quarters to start the washer). Press and hold down the delicates button until the display flashes. This clears the current cycle.

With the display flashing press:

Whites - Runs a 9 minute test cycle with hot water to test all washer functions. I use this to clean out the soap dishes.

Colors - Runs a 6 minute drain and spin option.

Permanent Press - Gives a free wash

Woolens - Field diagnostic cycle.

With any of the above, you can always press and hold down the delicates button to reset the washer.

During the test cycle you can go into help mode and monitor the cycle. With the washer running, go to special pricing option 2.xx and press the permanent press key. The manual will give you more details of what everything means.

If you need the full manual and a list of tools send me an e-mail and I can forward them to you.

Sorry if I was unclear. Buried in my first post was a comment about me replacing half my tops with Neptunes here in the near future. So Duane's comments were actually on topic.

So to be clear...for the Tops: 8.11 is the correct setting to get one 4 minute agitate and one 4 minute rinse. Am I reading you correctly?

Dude.. Do you have Maytag toploaders and and no sheet on them? I thought I was the greenest guy in this forum /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Wash agitate minutes is the "7" menu. Mine are set to max, 15 min.
7 15

Rinse is the "8" menu "1" means 4 minutes , second digit is number of rinses. 811 is four minutes, one rinse. 812 is four minutes, two rinses 8.22 is eight minutes two rinses and so on.
