We are rookie owners (4 months) of a medium size store and are looking at different ways of evaluating it's performance.

1) What percentage of gross sales should utilities be?
2) What percentage of gross sales is dryer revenue?
3) Do small stores with only top loaders experience higher tpd's?
4) Does anyone have any unique ideas for evaluating performance?

Thanks for your help.

Jcush,

Utilities should run 25-30% of gross on an older store. Less than 25% for a store with some high efficiency machines. Probably close to or under 20% for a store with all HE machines. I have 30 Neptunes and my September utilities were 14.9% if gross. I should be around 17.5-18% for the year depending on what Natural gas does.

My dryer income is around 40% of washer income.

Top loaders do more TPD because they are smaller washers. 3 TPD for a top loader would be about the same as 1 TPD for a 35# front loader.

A mats performance. Many ways, many variables, many different opinions. Maybe someone else can help out here.
