Has anyone had any experience or know of anyone who has had experience with solar heating? Here in California, gas has increased from 30 cents/Therm to $1.42 this past year with new increases each month. The solar company said it would cost about $25,000 to install, but this would cover my water heater completely. I figure if my gas bill is running about $3,000 a month and half that is my water heater, isn't this a GREAT idea???? Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

As an apartment owner in Los Angeles, I had
some buildings with solar heating and feel that there was no great advantage to the panel system. Repairs were prohibitive and
the savings were quite questionable at best.
Just my 2 cents!

I think more of that gas is going thru your dryers. I have priced solar units (am in FL) but can not talk my self into them. I installed tankless heaters recently, got alot of very hot water, don't think it costs more.
It may be a better way to go.
