I am new to the commercial laundry business and am thinking about pruchasing the Staber washing machines because of their high efficiency. Has anyone had any experience with them? Would you recommend them?

In the home market, on a few of the internet message boards, some people have bought these machines with varying degrees of satisfaction. It seems that most people do not like the fact that you have to do all the repairs yourself. There are so few of the machines out there that Staber is still making improvements as they go. I think they have a fairly stable machine now. Check out this website and search for Staber:

On the other hand, the machine was built specifically for the owner to repair. In our business, it sounds like a perfect fit. Yet, I have not heard of one store that has these machines, and Staber was conspicuously missing from the Clean Show this last summer. At Clean 2 years ago, they were going to introduce their coin-op washer with a window in the lid. (Granted, you can't see anything except the tub turning, but it is better than nothing a.k.a. the windowless Neptune.)
