My 6 year old IDC dryers are falling part. The baskets are coming apart at the seams, especially around the back of the drum. Since IDC is no longer in business, new drums are $600. from Cissell. It's been suggested to have a welder weld them back together.
Is it worth it, or is it time to upgrade?

As a distributor member, I'd love to see you upgrade! However, I would begin by asking your welder if he thinks it's worth it from a structural standpoint, and go from there. The other consideration is to ask yourself if it is worth it, because if the baskets are falling apart, what's going to fall apart next? My concern would be that you're throwing good money after bad, but I think that you have to look at your overall satisfaction with the units and go from there.
It's a big jump from a $600.00 fix to a $4,000.00 dryer (not knowing whether it's a stack or not), especially after only six years.
