Guys,

This time of year, I like to review what I've accomplished this year and reminisce about years gone by. With that in mind, do you remember when ...

1. A coin slide accommodated only 1 or 2 coins.
2. Laundromat CCTV cameras were all fake.
3. Frigidare toploaders had windows and jet agitators.
4. A changer only changed halves and quarters.
5. Speed Queen toploader pumps had to be greased.
6. Huebsch dryers had 1 motor and Ametek frontloaders had 2 motors.
7. Maytag toploaders were started with a plastic ticket that dropped into the coin box.
8. A Bock extractor removed excess water (and made a lot of noise) prior to drying.
9. A micro processor was the dwarf who served you with divorce papers.
10. A cell phone was used by inmates to call home.
11. A "golden dollar coin" was made of chocolate and encased in gold foil.

Okay. Add some of your memories.

12. Nickle dryer timers replaced by dime dryer timers.
13. Coin boxes the size of a box of kitchen matches.
14. Bendix washers that looked like egg timers.
15. Aqua blue Huebsch dryers with the port hole window.
16. Blackstone dryers.
17. Hoyt dryers.
18. Coin operated hair dryers in every laundrymat.
19. Learning to roller skate at the laundrymat because it was the biggest place in town with a smooth floor and no adults around to yell at us kids.
20. Tube style change machines where you laid the dollar on a tray and pushed it in.
21. Accumulators that took two dimes and a nickle, then you twisted the knob and out dropped a quarter. No electricity involved.
22. Climbing over the top of the washers to look for coins in the trough drain, finding 13 cents and dreaming I was rich.
23. Dreaming that one day I would have a big ring of keys and collect nickels all day long.

24. Natural gas was 4.50 and never varied.
Big belly laugh. Thanks

25. Not getting my change machine strung
26. Not getting my change machine crow barred
27. Not getting my change machine ripped out of the wall.
28. Not having sexual perverts flashing young girls
29. People take a dump in the toilet, not on it.
30. My copper water line is not stolen

I still have those single quarter slides on my 40 yr old 50lb Cissell dryers. ( 5 )
I'd like to update them, but I've been threatened by my customers.

They have said if those dryers vanish,
I will never be heard from again . . . /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Remember when there was hardly any competition.
Remember when laundromats were mostly dumps.
Remember when this business was easy.
Remember when the money was easy.
Remember when you never saw a laundromat close down. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Remember when you had weekends off?
Remember when you didn't cringe when the phone rang?
Remember when you didn't check the futures market for the price of natural gas?
