Does anyone have a website for their laundromat and is it helpful towards business?

Yes.....but not very helpful.

My web site usually averages about 700 hits per day.

Customers use it for various reasons - parents of the students use it to mail in checks to add value to their kids laundry cards.

You don't need anything fancy, just something to tell people who you are, where you are located and the services you provide.

Its been 7 years, I'll be redoing my web site soon.

Duane.

Yes, i think it helps.

It comes up when people google laundromat in the area.

Mine only gets about 100 hits a month. but i get at least 10 calls a month off the internet.
Everything helps.

Mine is set up with the MSN free website.

At the bottom of my website you can click on the MSN icon and create your own account and go from there.

Mine are simple two page sites, one with photos and info and the second with directions and a map.
They also get about 125 hits per month. One store gets alot of people from the nearby truck stop which would be tough to advertise to in conventional ways.
I've been told coin laundries in truck stops are expensive to use for what you get.
Also having photos on the sites lets the customer see what the storefront looks like in addition to the interior layout. They are both located in strip malls instead of free-standing.

I have considered feeding the cams onto the website so people can gauge how busy the stores are. But that would probably be TMI for them LOL
Both sites are hosted thru yahoo for about $10 per month including email accounts.

bigwill50, buy your domain name from godaddy.com, then go to Apollohosting.com for hosting. Apollo has a huge selection of web page formats and all the bells and whistles for about $6/mo. I have two sites with them and both look professionally done and they were actually fun to build.

My sites aren't laundry related but, if you'd like to see what can be done in a few hours, visit askaldo.info (http://www.askaldo.info) or apts-4-rent.com (http://apts-4-rent.com)

I tried askaldo.info and my virus software alerted that your site has malicious software and IE shutdown.

you should be able to reset your password.

Alan,

I got the same thing as Duane. Anti-virus warned me that your site contained malware. Does it have ads on it or something?

Duane has a cool feature of a digital camera at the website. You can see his store from anywhere! Great idea. Mark

Sorry about that. I'll call my host tomorrow to figger out what's up with that. I sincerely hope this didn't create a problem more serious than restarting a browser for anyone. There is no advertising and certainly no malicious 'anything' at either site. For whatever it's worth, I visited both sites as an outsider yesterday using the Firefox browser and had no problem. I had the same result just now when I rechecked the sites.

EDIT: As an afterthought, I had some problems entering the links in my post. Might I ask someone to type the URL into their address bar or google the URLs as a test? Maybe the problem was related to entering the links in the post. Thanx

Hello,
Does anyone have any cheap SEO ideas to promote by ranking in google/yahoo.com?

I think that would help grow wash and fold/self wash!

Add a signature to your profile on this board. As part of the signature say something like New York Laundromat and have a link to your site, see below. Eventually Google etc. will index your post and count your signature as a link which will improve your ranking. You can do this on blogs as well.

Test Laundromat (http://www.test.com)

What you did is ok but what you really want to do is to have specific text for which you want to appear at the top of search results to point to URL. For example

Parlin Laundromat (http://minimalllaundromat.com/default.aspx)

Syntax for above, delete *
[*url=http://minimalllaundromat.com/default.aspx] Parlin Laundromat [*/url]

You can also advertise on Google Adwords, the links you get to the right of the search results (Yahoo and MSN have similiar programs). It should not cost much for each click/visitor for search terms like Parlin Laundromat.

Also, take a look at superpages.com
