last year around one year ago, I started my mat's internet AD from yellowpages.com, and I paid total $250 until I requested to cancel my ad, but they said I did one year contract on the internet, so I have to pay another $250 !
I did not know it was one year-contract, so I sent letter to yellowpages.com a couple of times last year to close my account, but no response from them until yesterday, I got letter from collecion company and they said I have $250 balance and ask me to pay!!
Have you have similiar experience like this?
If I am not paying another $250, then what will happen?
my credit score going to donw??
or they can sue me for $250??
Thanks,
Brett

Yeah. Read the contract. Pay the bill. Bad on credit report.

yea, but I don't have contract, I just signed on the web-site...
How bad on my credit??
REALLY??
If you got a call from collection agency, they propbably reported already to credit report company. I have dealt with a collection agency and they are not very forgiving people. I ended up paying the fee and interests in order to put things behind. I didn't have much choices but paying even thou it was not my fault. They don't give a s*&%. Good luck.

Like most people, you probably didn't read the entire online contract or the contract was written in legalese which most non-lawyers don't thoroughly understand.
Failing to pay the $250 won't seriously affect your credit score. If you have a high credit score, losing a few points isn't going to make a lot of difference. The company will probably just write this off as a bad debt due to the small amount of money. However, they could get a Judgment against you and, if they do, your credit score will take a hard hit - probably about 50 points - even if you pay the Judgment immediately after it's issued and the 'J-word' will remain on your credit report for seven years.
Rather than risk a Judgment, I'd pay the $250. I'm thinking that $10 a month for 25 months would work nicely. As long as you are making regular payments, they can't get a Judgment.
Hithere, You think that's bad, read the credit card contract.
