To All,
We had a new customer who thought our golden dollar coins were quarters. She put 5 coins in each of her 4 dryers. That accumulated 100 minutes on each dryer. After 3 or 4 minutes, she realized something was weird. We simply bought back her left-over minutes. That's the first time that ever happened since converting our dryers to dollar coin only pricing last July 1st.

That is the first time that a customer brought it to your attention -- I'll be you others have done it but were too embarrassed to bring it to your attention.
BTW-- I have several customers that will routinely but 99 minutes on the dryer -- they do that and leave the store with confidence that the clothing will be dry when the ultimately return.

Guys,
Get this: A female customer added liquid clorine bleach to her frontloader that had white, pink and grey colored clothes. Of course several items got bleach stains on them. She blames my washer for causing the problem. CLAIM DENIED.

Business would be great if not for the customer /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
This week I had a drain issue with one of my 75# washers. I went in and openning it up and found a metal knife and fork in the drain.

I'm still trying to figger out how a customer's blanket could melt in a washer. After telling her that 120 twenty degree water couldn't melt it, she said that it was probably her fault but couldn't offer a clue to how it happened.

I recently replaced some dryers. I installed the new dryers and placed the old in a corner out of the way until i could dispose of them. (these were obviously not working, no coin boxes ect) The day i removed them i found that customers had been trying to use them. No one asked for a refund, they must have been too embarrassed! I dont know why they just did n't reach in and get the $ out thru coin box hole. Maybe is should leave them there. Pure profit!

Matt,
Those OLD dryers turned out to be your most EFFICIENT dryers ... zero utility cost per turn ... and you're throwing them away!

Guys,
Years ago, I had a customer who complained that my washer put holes all over his sheet. Sure enough, there were tiny holes throughout. Upon close examination, I noticed that the cotton was NOT TORN ... it was GONE where each hole was. Hmmmmm. I had the customer hold one end and I held the other end. I studied the hole pattern. I asked the customer to bring his two hands together while I did the same thus folding the sheet in half. Just as I suspected, the holes matched up from one half to the other half.
The sheet had been splattered with some type of acid WHILE IT WAS FOLDED UP. My washer was off the hook for this one.

Occasionally we will tag a machine "out of order" for various reasons. We do this in particular when the stores are unattended. Some machines may not start every time, or don't get hot every time, etc.
I chuckle when I empty coin boxes the next day and find money in the tagged machines.
People have told me they try to use them anyway because they think we are tagging them to keep customers from "overusing" them LOL
Then they are shocked to find out the tagged machines really don't work.
And of course there are those people who don't see the signs in the first place. I enjoy telling them about my no refund policy.
