Does anyone know of a publication or website that objectively compares coin laundry equipment brands, quality and price against each other. Something like Consumer Reports does for the retail market?

When you find such a site please tell us.

I think if you have equipment in mind, post a question, see what response you get. I do not know of any web sites that evaluate commercial equipment.
Some times it is the distributor, not the equipment, that makes the difference.
There are machines that are not suitable for unattended l'mats. Simple operation is key.

PETEFRITZ any comments on my choice of machines to refit my partially attended laundromat? Maytag High efficiency, Dexter 40 and 55 lb. fronts. customers include a lot of unattended males with high irritability.

I am not pete but I can tell you my thoughts on the mix, I have first had knowlage on this mix. I own a part time attended Laundromat with 12 mah20 and 2 dexter 40pd and 16 stack 30pd dryers. I am very happy with them. You do need signs to use only 1/4 cap of soap. The only problems you will have is to much soap in the mah20. What do you have for dryers?

Hi Marianne
I own many Dexters, is a great machine for unattended IMO. I do not have maytag, but I know a very succesful owner who runs unattended and that is what he puts in, maytag and dexter. Dexter stack dryers are great. Easy to work on, and they dry very well.

My dryers are a never ending story. I have 6 Maytag (ADC) 30# singles (90 BTU), 2 Maytag 30# stacks (72? BTU), 4 Wasco 535 stacks (102 BTU) and 2 ADC 50# reversing dryers (150 BTU). Those last are because I get a lot of comforters, sleeping bags and horse blankets. Most of those items are dry in 15 minutes or less because they never wind up into a ball. I charged 25 cents for 5 minutes at first, now 50 cents for 5 minutes.

Gary,

You can change the default settings to help with the over sudsing. Turn the over sudsing detection off and if it is really bad add a 1 minute prewash to eliminate most of the soap from the beginning.

I find most owners use the default settings on the Neptunes. Making some changes will give you great benefits.

Duane.

isn't this what coinwash (cwa) is?

Hardly, if you say anything bad about a supplier or distributor you get banned there. That is the problem when you are run by sponsors or want to be courting potential sponsors. The CLA board is a much better place to get honest info on equipment.

I don't think so. I think you may be mistaken or a disgruntled member that I have read about. This is a fine place but so is cwa

I am considering adding w/d/f with horse blankets only for now - I have a friend (horse enthusiast) who will do them after hrs in an unmanned laundro. Anything I should consider about doing this? I have read that i may need to run an extra empty cycle to clean the machines - but not sure if there is anything else that I need to consider.
