We have recently purchased a laundry mat. Because business is a little slow, we are considering providing outsource laundry services to area hotels/motels. Because, we have little experience in this business we are not sure what price to quote when dealing with the prospective clientele. We would greatly appreciate it if anyone would give us some guidance (i.e. what the current rate/lb is or where to find this sort of info).

Thanks to all of you in advance.

Is business slow, or is the business producing less revenue than determined prior to the purchase?

You want your self service to dominate although you want to capitalize on every ancilliary service possible. What have you done to advertise and promote your self service? What did you purchase? (mat size, equip mix and age) What is your market? What is your competition?

Here is what we do. Our WDF fold rate and those of our competitors is 70cent per pound
(we plan to go up to 80cents per pound 2/2004). Anyway, that's what we charge our clients.
Some of our clients contacted us as well as called around to several other laundromats
for quotes and visited some before ending up with us. A large part of the success of WDF
is using minimal cleaning products to get acceptable results as well as professional service.
We found out about the price of our competitors by looking them up in the "pages" and calling
them to get prices quotes for wdf. We also did "walk-ins" to see what our competitors were doing.
