Guys,

Now that I'm getting use to this new BB format, I'm finding it to be more organized, flexible and useful than the old format. I like it. Thankfully, our code of ethics (tollerance, respect, etc.) has carried over as well for it is this professionalism that impresses outsiders the most.

Good job, CLA ... thanks.

Agreed 100%. I like the BB upgrade and I have been enjoying the multi-media material on the main page. I hope CLA does the obvious thing, and ask long time members and 'advisors' like you Larry to contribute material to those web page sections.

I seem to remember when this forum started talking about upgrading, the general consesus was to leave it alone. Responses so far seem to like the changes. Had the cla listened to their customers we would be stuck with the old system instead of the new and improved. Reminds me of a debate on another current post that went something like this "let the customer decide"

I know what his point is. Back when CLA added all the new topics on the old forum, and then forcibly moved old posts out of the general forum to whatever topic they deemed appropriate, I was unhappy. I never heard CLA hint at the fact they would be upgrading the forum software at that time, they were just "changing" things. I admit I posted once or twice saying to leave it alone.

However, If I knew they would be making such an improvement in the forum software, where we can look at only new posts, search the forum, Make nifty avatars and profiles and such, I would have STFU.

This new site rocks. I've only been hanging around here a year or so but I think it is a major improvement over the old discussion board. I'm glad to be a member of this community. and I have felt welcome, even though I'm a small fish in a big pond.

I must admit that I was also skeptical, but this is great. I use the same B/B software format on two other boards I belong to, but this one is by far the most informative and dare I say the most civil.

One thing i can think of is in the classifieds.

Is there anyway to be searchable or at least have a field for location.

It would make it easier to se if there are things for sale in my area.

Classified would be much better if it was done the way NikonCafe does theirs. As you can see in the attachment all the items are listed with a few words but if you hover your mouse over an item you can see the first paragraph of text. Thus, you only click on things you already have a clue interest you and you can see dozens of listings on one page.

When you post a reply to someone, we dont know who there replying to unless they put there name in the reply. or it's quoted and not everything needs to be quoted Like in the old forum it would say reply to CWhebert. Can they put a post reply in each post not just at the bottom. Sometimes I like to go back and see what people are replying to and have to search all the post again.

Ok, I know the love fest continues for the new site. It does look great and well thought out. But, I still like better being able to click and look at all the new posts on one page. Yeah I know, maybe I'll lose another few pounds having to click the mouse a time or two more to see what I want. LOL

"New Posts" link and it will give you all the new posts since the last time you logged on. Then click the blue down arrow on the left and it will take you to the first unread post.

Agreed that the current classifieds listings leave a little to be desired.

There's several ways to go about fixing it. One that comes to my mind are a Craigslist type of format, with only a single line of text, a location, and a category, then click on it to open the ad. This seems similar to the NikonCafe style.

Also, I wonder if there are not enough categories in the classifieds. I think one easy split would be "equipment" into "parts" and "machines" . Another possible split would be stuff for sale by dealers and stuff for sale by individuals.

Duane,

I set up my threads in REVERSE order so that the newest post comes up first. That way I can either scroll down a few posts to get the beginning of the unread ones or I can click the down arrow to get there. I like this system.

I love options...

I like being able to see the oldest new post first then finish with the newest new post last. I think that is what I wanted to say. Makes it easier to just scroll up a small bit to see the older posts so I can refresh my mind on what we were talking about.

Michelle, the link does not work. Also if you click on an ad you get an error.. I would like to check on some of the ads. Hope they work soon. Thanks, Brett
