I am ready to start a remodel of my existing laundry. What type of flooring is best. I have had vinyl tile in the past, but I'm seeing a lot of ceramic tile. Does ceramic get slippery?

I use both types of flooring in our stores.

Vinyl is cheaper, easier to clean, and much easier on the feet.
It does require more maintenance (waxing), it doesn't last as long, and it can buckle and crack when exposed to standing water.
Ceramic tile lasts forever, needs very little maintenance, and comes in a varitey of style and colors.
The downside is it's expensive, hard on the feet and difficult to mop.
You can buy ceramic tile that is a "no slip" style but it is hard to mop compared to a regular ceramic tile. I would only install a no slip stye in a laundry.
If you buy vinyl tile buy the commercial version it is thicker and the pattern goes all the way through,
Good Luck

If it's in the budget, or even close.....GO TILE. You can save tons by researching and doing the install yourself. It's a bite to do, but the rewards are for years and years and no hassle floor maintnanace.
If your like me, you can live with a few minor install flaws by doing the install yourself to save $$$$$$ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

If your store will be closed doing other repairs and you have the time, I would go with ceramic. I will within the next month replace my vct tile and am going back with vct and rubber non skid with the demo and installation at night while the store is closed. If I had the time, I would go with ceramic. The vct I am replacing is 14 years old. If I had gone with ceramic originally, I would not be going through this now.
