Hi,

I'm new to the board and I have a question the CLA thought would be good for this forum. Here it is.

Hello,

First I'd like to say thanks for all the hard work and dedication you and your colleagues gave to make the CLA event in L.A. so successful.

Today after reviewing a good source of businesses for sale I noticed there is a significant number of coin op laundries for sale in the eastern part of the USA. The south eastern region seems loaded with coin-op's for sale...in Florida compared to the western USA. Would you consider this a good, typical, or bad trend in that region? Your comments and other CLA pro's comments would be appreciated.

Hi Peter,
You have made an interesting observation and I can think of two reasons why Florida has a lot of laundries for sale.

A lot of 'snowbirds' sell their homes and business "up North" and move to Florida to retire. When the get tired of fishing and playing golf they decide to buy a small business.
After ten years they are getting to old to run the business and put it up for sale.

I am currentlly looking at a laundry where the owners are originally from 'up North'. The wife is homesick for her family and wants to move back home.

My guess is that the transient nature of Florida and the aging population forces people to put up their laundries for sale.
Good-Luck

I will take the logical side. I think the population is more dense in the southeast then the midwest. More people, more laundries, more available.

I'm also new to the board and I read your thread with great interest. I'm also looking at purchasing a coin laundry either in L.A or in the greater Miami area. Did you ever figured out why there are typically more businesses for sale in the eastern part of USA vs. its western part? Your input would be appreciated.

There should be plenty on the market after this year's hurricane season, at least those remaining standing

I heard there were over 100 laundries for sale in the Dallas Market.
