If I reply on one of the new threads the New posts button resets. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a setting I can change? It means all of the threads that I have and haven't read yet disappears from the menu. It can get annoying, especially when I haven't been on-line for a while.

Jonathan,
WOW. That sure doesn't sound good. Here's how it works for me:
I click on "New Posts" and the list of unread threads appears. Then I click on the one that I want to read. If I reply to a post in that thread, the thread goes to the top of my New Posts lists as an unread post (even though it's my post that is unread). Then I can still see my entire New Posts lists and choose another thread to read and possibly reply to. Threads that have been read and not replied to stay on the New Posts list without bold print. After reviewing all of my New Posts, all listed threads are no longer in bold print. If I close out the list, for example by clicking on "blogs", my New Posts list becomes blank until more unread posts are added.

When I read this forum (or any Internet forum of this kind) I click on New Posts. For each thread listed, I right-click and open the thread in a new tab. In that tab, I can jump forward and backward within the thread, and follow any links that appear it its articles. I can also post replies to the same thread (like this one!). When I'm done, I close the newly opened tab, which returns me to the list of new posts, which remains un-changed from when I first viewed it.
Threads are available in the latest versions of Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer. They're a helpful tool for keeping one's place (a computer-nerd would call it 'preserving state') in one page while viewing another one.

I like that! I might have been doing what Larry said and clicked on something else without thinking and cleared it.
