I felt this piece should be posted for all to read.
My name is Ray and I own 3 laundromats. I recently went searching for a way to keep an eye on all 3 of my stores. I kept losing revenue in 2 of them and there was no way I could keep an eye on all of them at once. I was at the mercy of my employees and my customers.(They kept complaining about losing money in the machines as well as customers ripping off other customers clothing.) One day, I decided it had to end and I began reading up on video surveillance. I searched through the Coin-Op and Journal. I searched the Internet for answers. I kept seeing the same 2 names. Laundry Spy and Active Vision. Figuring Laundry Spy would be my first choice to contact, I called them up about their video system. A seceratary answered the phone and said "Noone is here to answer your questions." "Give me your name and number and someone will call you back. I waited and waited and then 5 days later, someone (Who was quite rude, returned my call) They gave me a price of $5,800.00 for a 4 camera system. I asked them if there was some sort of a Demonstration I could see and they didn't have one. The attitude I got was I was'nt important enough for them to take the time to answer my questions. I hung up the phone and called the second company, Active Vision.
Their technical manager, Joe Garcia answered the phone.
I asked how much their 4 camera system was, and to my surprise, it was $2695.00 Thinking there was some sort of catch, I asked "Is there some way I can see a demonstration?" He said, "You sure can" Just visit our Website and you can try out our Demo. We believe in allowing anyone to try out our equipment before they purchase it. The website was www.Active-Vision.com (http://www.Active-Vision.com) I visited there website and viewed their demonstration. The software was very easy to use. After the Demo, I called back and asked for the Technical Manager Joe.
I asked him what kind of camera's were available, because one of my concerns were for nighttime viewing.(I didnt know much about camera's) He discussed in length about camera's, helping me to understand the features and terms I did not understand. He was very patient and understanding, which helped a lot in making my decision. I decided I was going to try out one of their systems. Not only was it good, it was GREAT. The day after my system arrived, I received a call from Joe asking me if I needed any help. I said I would be needing some, since I am not a tech nor am I a guru. Once I set up the system, I noticed that they had built in tutorials teaching me how to use the surveillance system as well as how to connect the system to the Internet. I watched the tutorials, which were very easy to follow and in a matter of minutes, I had my system connected to the Internet. I went home that very night and was able to view my store over the Internet using nothing more then Internet Explorer.
A week went by and I called Active Vision back and I asked to speak to Joe. He showed genuine concern and asked how I was making out installing my system. I told him it was already set up and I was actually calling to order 2 more systems for my other 2 stores. I bought 2 more systems, and again, the day after they arrived, Joe called me and asked me if I needed any help whatsoever, to feel free to call and he or one of his technicians would answer any of my questions. After I got both systems set up(BTW, I used the tutorials already built in and when I was done, I felt like a pro.) Now I can view all 3 of my stores from anyplace on the planet, so when I go away on vacation, I can still keep an eye on my stores. Thank you so much Active Vision. I have my life back again and since I installed these systems, I am not losing money, I am finally turning a profit. I wish these guys were around years ago. Thanks for taking the time to listen,
Raymond Preston

Kudos to this company!

Its nice to hear about companies that exceed expectations versus falling short of expectations.

It is too bad expectations have dwindled over the years in many business dealings. Its nice to hear about these types of stories that will rekindle our faith in the customer service aspect of a business relationship! Good job!

Its amazing anyone buys from laundryspy - they are way over priced and with an attitude let's hope no one else in our industry is suckered in by them anymore.

Mr. Fritz,
When I posted the above article, I was attempting to post something positive. I had gone shopping and had a positive experience that I wished to share. Being new to the CLA site, I did not want to post an extremely lengthy post so I kept it short and concise. What I don't understand is that after I finished reading your reply, I clicked on your link. I went to the site you posted only to find it in another language. I am sorry, I cannot read foreign languages as the site is in another language. I am sorry you felt so negative about the piece I wrote but such is the way of United States of America and we all have a right to be heard. I thank you though for having taken the time to write some negativity. It shows that you read about my experience. Have a good day all and Mr. fritz, I wish you personally a very good day.

The correct site Pete refers to is: www.123cctv.com (http://www.123cctv.com)

Sometimes you don't need to buy expensive system from these vendors. If you have high speed internet, just buy some internet cameras such as D-link cameras, and put it in your store. With computer at home, you can still see the real time images of your store.

Thank you James for the clarification. I did indeed visit the site you posted. You do make a valid point that the prices are much lower then what I paid for the systems I purchased. BUT, if you look a little closer and do some research, the systems I purchased are NOT a VCR. Which is what is being toted on the above site nor is it a system that requires you to walk around with a CD loading the remote software into every machine I attempt to access my store from. The system I purchased, is softwareless using nothing more then Internet explorer nor does it involve me opening up my home computer. Basically, I can go to any computer on the planet and see my store real time without having load software. One thing I found of particular interest is that nowhere on that site did it list what chipset your home computer should have. A piece of advice for those who decide that route of purchasing such a system as that, they are many caveats to installing Video Capture cards into home machines. Such considerations are the following: Motherboard chipset, processor, memory requirements, specific AGP chipsets. During my research of purchasing a surveillance system is the fact that many of these Video Capture cards are not compatible with many of the older motherboards and they are definitley not compatible with any sort of onboard video. I may have paid a little more for my system, but I got two things that none of the systems on the above site have. For one, I can view my store with my wireless PDA. Secondly, I have lifetime tech support should anything go wrong. Very few companies can say that.
I do thank you for the posting in response to my own, I just feel that when you do go and do some comparison shopping you may find that many places will not help you or they will push you off to the manufacturer instead of addressing the problem. In essence, Buyer Beware. You get what you paid for. I am still a satisfied customer of Active Vision.

Activision sells geovision cards and you can buy them cheaper elsewhere.
