Can we trust a landlord or distributor? I have heard if you find a location which seems good, do not immediately reveal your intentions to the landlord or distributor. Landlords are in the business of real estate but some may find an interest in a business oppurtunity. As with distributors why would they want to steal a location from under you, what can they gain? This post isn't so much to debate why a location may be pulled from under you but more to answer the question:
How can you avoid having a good location stolen from you?
1) Can you draw up a statement for the distributor to sign indicating the location is exclusive to you and only you can purchase their equipment for that location?
2) Should you mislead the landlord up until the point it seems a lease may be offered?
Let's add to these thoughts. I am sure many of us have concerns outside of the normal "which brand is better" question.
