I have 4 sizes. TL, 18#, 30# and 50#. It depends on your market. I sell lots of my bigger machine for comforters and sleeping bags. You are really limiting yourself when you only have TL. It is the oldest, least effective washer in the industry. It is like selling a car with a carberater. What car on the market today is carberated? None! Sell them on the fuel injected one. It will wash faster, better, for less, quicker and use less soap than the TL.

Tk,

Not knowing your store or market here is a suggestion.

Start replacing the tops with HE front loaders. I am big on Maytag Neptunes, but if you are a SQ store then the horizon would be your choice. With that many top loaders you could cut back on horizons and still have the same washing capacity.

Since you have 25lb machines I would put in a couple 35lb machines and one 50lb machine. You would then probably need to replace the single dryers with stack dryers and maybe one 50lb dryer.

It all depends on your equipment age, but you do need larger machines and less utility hogs like the top loader.

Right now you don't have the capacity to do large comforters. The trend is toward larger equipment.

This is just a suggestion since I don't know your market.

THE 50 IS YOUR MOST USED SIZE IN ANY MARKET, ILL BET A SURVEY WOULD PROVE THAT....TURNS PER DAY

Hotwash,

I have one 50lb machine and it is the least used machine in the store.

Markets vary and owners need to adjust to what works for their store.

One way to gauge what you might consider buying is to be at your store during prime times of each day.
Between two stores we've got 16 SQ 50lb machines and they are constantly turn non stop during prime time.
It's the most frequently requested machine by our customers (for comforters, rugs, etc). As stated
in previous posts it really depends on ones location. Evaluate your prime times, know your customer base
and that will enable you to make a reasonable decision. Good luck!

While my 2 55# and 2 40# make a great deal of money, it's my 5 30# that are constantly in use. For some reason, my customers just REALLY like this size machine. (My other washers include 16 18# and 6 toploaders.)

The 35# (triple loaders) have always been my most used, in each location. This is the size to add, if you don't have any. You will not be sorry, except they probably won't want to use those old SQ-25's anymore.

my second mat I bought had 20 tops and 5 SQ super 20's. The first thing I did was buy a 35# Milnor. That thing was going all the time. I got rid of 4 of the 20's, now have 2 40's. 2 newer 25's, added a 50 in place of a couple tops. You need at least one big machine, and may find you need more than one. Take a couple tops out, put in a used 35# or 40#, you can test the market. I agree, 35/40# machines get used alot.
I would buy bigger machine before buying Neptunes.
