Guys,

A local clothing shop, owned by a Korean couple, was held up at gun-point recently. Here's how it all went down:

The couple were minding their store by themselves around 7 PM when in walked a guy with a pistol. As he's ushering the couple into a back room, the gun accidentally goes off ... kablaaaaamm! No one is hit but the husband store owner panics and begins fighting with the gunman. In the scuffle, the robber drops his gun. The husband yells to the wife "get the gun and get rid of it". So the wife picks up the gun and drops it into a toilet.

The husband, now scuffling with Mr Robber on the floor among the racks of clothing, tells the wife to call the cops. The wife cannot speak good English so she calls her sister instead and tells her what is going on. Her sister, who speaks only slightly better English, calls 911 but she's not in the same city where the store is. This delays the alert getting to the local cops and it takes them a full 10 minutes to get there even though the police station is only 3 short blocks from the store.

Meanwhile, back at the store, the shopkeeper is still restraining the robber on the floor and wondering where the cops are. In comes a couple of male customers. The wife pleads "help us ... help us" as they see the scuffle still going on. Do they help? Sure. They help themselves to a nice leather jacket and a few other choice items off the rack and then they leave.

Finally the calvary arrives and arrests Mr Robber. The 2 shoplifters are arrested a couple of days later ... one still wearing the leather jacket. No one was injured during this entire event. Talk about having a bad day at work ... try and top that.

where is batman when you need him. WHY DID THE SHOP OWNERS NOT HAVE A SECURITY SYSTEM I only pay 23.00 a month for monitoring.

Why did the wife put the gun in the toilet, rather than placing it on the robber's skull and pull the trigger?

Howard,

Good question. Anyway, the lesson here is that if you're being robbed, don't call your sister. Call 911. Since our fancy 911 systems have the ability to identify your specific location; speaking perfect English is not so important. Had the wife called 911, all she really had to say is "wobbuwy" and the cop's would have had all the information they really needed. They could have been at the store in under 3 minutes.

My boat has a kind of 911 system on it. If I press the covered "distress" button on my com radio, it automatically calls the Coast Guard and gives them my GPS coordinates and a code number specific to my vessel. From that code number they would know the color, size, registration number and type boat. All this happens just by flipping up the cover and pressing that button one time. While the radio is taking care of all that, I can be getting out the PFDs. Then the Coast Guard would call me back and ask what the problem is and I could reply "zinking".

Have you ever been in another country that does not speak ENGLISH and you do not speak THEIR language and you called their emergency 911 number?
You will be very surprised at the reaction you will receive both by the operator answering the call and the persons responding to your aid when and IF they get there.
Believe me it is not a pretty experience! I've been there.
At least here in the U S they do respond.

Guys,

Here's another story ... I promise to keep it short.

Two middle age women shoplift at the local Walmart. Store security sees them and detains them near the main entrance. The 2 women make a break for it and run to the car out in the lot. One gets into the driver's seat and opens the passenger door for the other woman. Mr Security Guy runs up and stands between the open passenger door and the second woman who is just outside the car.

The woman head-butts the guard causing him to sit down on the car seat. As he tries to stand back up, the 230 lb woman gets into the car and sits on the guy. The driver takes off with all 3 in the car and the excited woman, sitting on the guard, urinates on him. The police catch up a few blocks away and make the arrests.

The lesson here is: if you confront a woman try not to get her too excited ... especially if she's sitting on you.

It could have been worse. I knew someone who was in a similar situation. Husband being held at gunpoint. Wife walks in and freaks out. Robber gets nervous and shoots and kills the husband before running off.
