Some(?) people living in nearby apartments comes to my mat just to use coin changer, so I normally add more new quarters from bank to store every other week.
It's pain in my neck. I am sick and tired to continue this "ADDING" due to those people-non-customers' changer machine usage. I think the reason they change coins here is to use laundry facility in apartments.
what do you think? do I have to ban them? or just close my eye?

Hithere, just put a small gumball machine next to the change machine so that everytime they get quarters, their kids make them buy something from that machine.

if you're attended a simple interruption by your employee is embarrassing enough to deter a second offense. if not put up a sign on the machine that says your store in under 24 surveillance and coins are for customers use only so violators will be prosecuted. it may not hold any legal weight but most people are afraid of being caught on camera. or you can switch to tokens. you can weigh the hassle:value proposition

I had a Gentleman come into my unattended store every morning & put in a $20 dollar bill, I could never catch up with him, so one day I posted a picture of him at the change machine from my security system, saying the change machine is for laundry customers only & if I see you again I will press tresspassing charges, you should have seen his face the next day when he came in & seen his picture posted. He has never been back since.
P.S. he was never a customer

My competitor comes in from time to time and gets a hundred dollars worth of quarters. Gee, I sure hope he doesn't go out of business. He hasn't been in for awhile now.

You just have to ignore people comming in for quarters. It creates bad pr for you if you complain loudly about it in front of the rest of your customers. Just let it go, it saves you from carrying all of those heavy bags to the bank. I have never had to buy any quarters. I have 2 huge hoppers on one and dollar coin in my other changer.

I have the same problem. One of my mats is surrounded by apartment buildings, most of which have coin machines in the basement, and the tenants use my changer regularly. They also removed my sign saying the changer is for customer use only. When I'm in the store I turn off power to the changer until a customer needs change but I think I'll try posting a pic as suggested by BMWHD3060.

Funny story. One day a non-customer came in for change when the changer was not powered. After a few tries, she told me the changer wasn't working. I replied telling her that it only works for customers. She said, "Oh!" and walked out, apparently believing that.
