8 yrs ago we bought a 3000 sq ft mat that had been in existence for about 40 years, had old equipment and a VCT tile floor that needed replacement 10 years earlier.
So about 18 years after the floor probably shoulda been replaced, we are finally getting it done this week, putting in a porcelain floor.
This mat will now be outfitted with mostly new equipment and a brand new floor, it's gonna be nice......and paid for.
The reason it took us so long is that we decided to pay cash for all improvements rather than load the biz up with debt.

My floor is about that old and I would love to replace it, but I don't want the debt. As long as I keep it clean, the customers don't seem to be bothered. This is not a good time to acquire un-needed debt. I would love to see some photos of your new floor. I bet it is so beautiful. Good luck!

we just 3 months ago, put down porcelin tiles over vct, that we could not keep clean or shinny the constant sliding of baskets across the floor took off sealer and wax in short order. the porcelin tiles i was told are more durable than ceramics especially over uneven floors. and the color is all the way thru not just on top. I need to repaint after the new floor looks so good. don't think it brought in any new business but sure makes the place look better and much easier to keep clean. Less time too

Congratulations on your new floor and new look and, especially, for having it PAID OFF! Mark

Thank you, after 8 years of waiting.......i'm excited.
The floor isn't in yet, but it should be finished by Friday....it's gonna cost $17 G's
And I don't expect it to bring in any new business but it just plain needed to be done, the old floor was missing many tiles and the tiles that were there, were in horrible shape.
We went with porcelain over ceramic because the porcelain material is significantly harder than ceramic, which means scratch resistant. I've been told you can take a belt sander to these tiles and you can't scratch them. To test that idea out myself, I did take a sample of the tile and took some sandpaper to it, and I could not scratch it.
Howard (here on the board) probably stated my own viewpoint the best when he described porcelain as the lowest cost flooring over time, and also the best. I expect this flooring to last 40+ more years and still look good.

Congrats, there isn't a day go by that I don't wish I had porcelain flooring, but its not in the budget right now. I'm sure it will make a huge difference in how your store looks.
