We are in the process of opening a new facility that includes a coin laundry as well as space for wash - dry - fold and dry cleaning drop-off. My question for the group has to do with dry cleaning drop-off.

In the process of doing our research on this topic, I am suprised to find that most laundries (at least those we have spoken to) do not have a written contract with the company doing their dry cleaning. I don't think we need a lengthy or complicated document but I do think we should document pricing; service terms and liability for the clothing at a minimum.

What are your experiences? Does the CLA have a dry cleaning drop-off contract template (I am a new member of the CLA - but have not seen anything like that yet)?

Thanks in advance,

John

We have dealt with four different Dry Cleaning places in the past 1 1/2
year before settling down and being very happy with who we have. We
never had a written contract. We did sit down with the owner's and/or
manager's of each company to get an understanding of cost, payment
and services provided. Frankly some places absolutey do not want a
contract. No contract has worked for us so far.

We had a simple written agreement (1 page signed by both parties) stating what % we would make, what days/times deliveries would be made, who was responsible for which errors, who pays for supplies such as slips, etc. We didn't have a contract for any specific time however.
Eventually we stopped doing this service because the dry cleaning portion caused 90% of our problems and 10% of our income.
